Two snake oil "security" actions,
detecting whistle blowers and fixing a two decade old bug. People who use
Windows obviously don't care about security of any sort, so I wonder why
Microsoft bothers.
Unable to fix garbage like Sharpoint on their own, Microsoft is buying Aorato, a security snake oil company. Perhaps the NSA's plan to fire all the sysadmins did not work out so well and they want some assurance from Microsoft that the next Manning or Snowden will be detected. No telling, but it will make life more miserable in government offices and big dumb companies that still fool around with Windows. Sharepoint does not have reasonable rules for handing things out and the kind of people who use Microsoft hate their employees. What's to do? Spy more on your employees, of course.
Techrights also notes the poor press coverage of an ancient SSL bug Microsoft had. Compare that to Heartbleed? Nah, everyone expects Microsoft to suck.
