CONGRATULATIONS MS. OLIVIA CULPO AS A MISS USA 2012 WINNER GOOD LUCK AND SEE YOU IN MISS UNIVERSE.

On September 18, 2011, Olivia Culpo was crowned Miss Rhode Island USA 2012 at the beautiful Rhode Island Center for Performing Arts.

Olivia Culpo, 19, is from Cranston, Rhode Island. She is the daughter of Peter and Susan Culpo and the middle-child of five. Olivia graduated from St. Mary Academy Bay View in 2010 with high honors and as a member of the National Honor Society. In high school, Olivia’s love for Italian language gave her the opportunity to take part in two foreign language programs to Milano, Italy. She continues her education as a sophomore at Boston University and has been placed on the Dean’s List every semester.

Ms. Culpo was raised in musically rich surroundings, with her parents both having begun their professional lives as musicians. Miss Culpo began studying cello in the second grade. She participated in the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, RI Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble, Bay View Orchestra and Rhode Island All-State Orchestra. Olivia also studied voice, As a cellist, Olivia won a seat in the Boston Symphony Hall, in Boston, Carnegie Hall, in New York City and a tour of England in 2010. Ms Culpo was accepted into an intensive summer music program at the Brevard Music Center, in North Carolina for two summers. She continues to perform with the Boston University Accompanietta.
With this year’s pageant being her first, Olivia was startled, but elated to have gotten the nod as the 2012 recipient of the Miss Rhode Island title. She is deeply aware of the privilege and opportunity this title has given her and is beyond excited to use her title to help others and serve as a positive role model. She intends to perform her duties with élan, integrity, and diligence, and with luck and grace, do the same at the Miss USA pageant.

Miss USA crowned after announcing support for transgender women!Olivia Culpo of Rhode Island has been crowned Miss USA 2012. When asked "Would it be fair if a transgender woman won the Miss USA title," Culpo responded, "I do think it would be fair..." because "there are so many people who have a need to change for a happier life. I do accept that because I believe it's a free country." The crowd erupted with cheers.
